        إحياء اليوم الوطني للذاكرة

تحيي الجزائر اليوم الوطني للذاكرة بتاريخ 8 ماي من كل سنة، تخليدا لشهداء المجازر التي اقترفها المستعمر الفرنسي البغيض سنة 1945 في حق الشعب الجزائري، إذ سقط خمسة وأربعين ألفا من الجزائريات والجزائريين، لا سيما في كل من سطيف، خراطة وقالمة. ذنبهم هؤلاء أنهم خرجوا للاحتفال بانتصار الحلفاء، على النازية، في الحرب العالمية الثانية، املين في تحقيق حلم الاستقلال.

 وذلك اعتقادا منهم أن فرنسا الاستعمارية كانت لتفي بوعدها مقابل ما قدمه الجزائريون من تضحيات لتحريرها من الاحتلال النازي. 

من أجل أن يبقى فضل هؤلاء الشهداء الأبرار وتضحياتهم الجسيمة راسخة في ذاكرة الأجيال المتعاقبة، وعملا بقرار السيد رئيس الجمهورية، عبد المجيد تبون، القاضي بترسيم يوم الثامن ماي يوما وطنيا للذاكرة، تقف السفارة الجزائرية بدبلن، على غرار باقي المؤسسات الجزائرية الأخرى والشعب الجزائري بكل أطيافه، وقفة إكبار وإجلال أمام أرواحهم الزكية.

كما تدعو السفارة، بهذه المناسبة، الجالية الجزائرية المقيمة بإيرلندا إلى إحياء هذه الذكرى بالترحم على أرواح شهدائنا الأبرار الذين بفضلهم، ننعم اليوم بالأمن والاستقرار والرفاه، في أحضان جزائر سيدة مستقلة.

Celebration of National Day of Memory

Algeria celebrates the National Day of Memory on May 8 of each year, in remembrance of the martyrs of the massacres perpetrated by the hateful French colonialism in 1945 against the Algerian people. At that painful occasion forty-five thousand Algerian women and men fell, especially in Setif, Kharta and Guelma. Their fault is that they organized demonstrations` to celebrate the victory of the Allies over Nazism in World War II, hoping to realize the dream of independence.

They believed that colonial France was to fulfil, in return, its promise for the sacrifices made by the Algerians to liberate it from Nazi occupation.

In order for the merit of these righteous martyrs and their great sacrifices to remain firmly rooted in the memory of successive generations, and pursuant to the decision of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, designate the eighth of May as a National day of memory, the Algerian Embassy in Dublin stands, like the rest of the other Algerian institutions and the Algerian people, in reverence for their pure souls.

The Embassy calls also on the Algerian community residing in Ireland to commemorate this anniversary by praying for the souls of our righteous martyrs, thanks to whom we enjoy, today, security, stability and prosperity in a sovereign and independent Algeria.
